If you know me personally, you know I'm a relationship person. I can't help it... it's just what I do. So for a long time, I've been sending my past clients and prospects little notes (via email mostly) or leaving short voicemail messages just to say "How ya doin'?" and check in with them. My intention isn't to sell them on using my service again -- although of course I'd welcome that -- my intention is to give excellent service and to follow up to let them know I care about their progress and how their life is going. Because I'm in business not only to make a profit, but to make a difference.
I used to wonder why I spent so much time and energy doing this endless follow-up, because believe me, it takes time! But I'm glad I stuck with it, because today I noticed on Seth Godin's blog, that he advocates doing the very same thing. So, thanks for that validation Seth... now I'm off to reach out and touch a few more people before day's end.
