What Do You See?

Flag3_2 What do you see when you look at Old Glory? Do you just see a piece of fabric fluttering in the wind? Or do you see a little more? When I go to a sporting event, I look forward to and love hearing our national anthem and gazing upon that beautiful flag. It reminds me that we have something special here in the United States. We are a young nation and as many youngsters do...

we often think we're smarter than our parents. It was only several generations ago that our forefathers risked their lives to break away from Britain's rule and having lived under government oppression, they knew exactly what they were doing when they framed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. I firmly believe we should not second-guess the wisdom of these inspired documents, as they were forged out of the experience of those who had already lived through the consequences of  a government out of control.

On this Independence Day, if you're an American, take some time to reflect on just how fortunate we are to live in these United States. This is still the land of opportunity, where all citizens live free, and where millions of people around the world can only dream of living. For generations, countless families from other countries have struggled to get to this nation's golden shores, for the promise of freedom and the ability to create the life of their dreams.

Today and all days, I hope you'll be grateful for the incredible sacrifices that our forefathers made to birth this great nation.  Don't ever take for granted all the opportunity and freedom we enjoy here, which was envisioned by our founding fathers in the 1700's and has been secured over the years by the fine men and women of our military. When we commemorate The Fourth of July, we acknowledge that this day is the one that allows us to live the amazing lives we live the for rest of the year. Happy Independence Day! And as you ponder the greatness of this nation and the freedoms it affords you, listen to this inspiring story of a woman who loves freedom, and is giving back to our fallen soldiers' families.
