The Check-Out Line: Thatz Hot
Welcome to The Check-Out Line, where I review products that are designed to make your life easier. I give you my opinion and my opinion only. You decide for yourself. You can see past product reviews here. This week, I'm reviewing Cenita Johnson's curling iron and flat iron bag, called Thatz Hot. Look out Cenita, Paris might try to getcha...
PURPOSE: To store hot curling irons and flat irons.
SUGGESTED RETAIL:
Ranges from $9.99 to $39.99 depending on the size and style of bag.
If you've ever seen me
without my hair done, (yikes!) you know it's stick-straight and baby fine.
My
curling irons are my secret weapon, so I can't go on the road without
them. When I travel, because items are packed so tightly into my luggage, adding a hot iron before zipping up the suitcase could spell disaster
for my clothing or toiletry bottles. When I'm at home, I keep my curling irons in a box at the back of my vanity
cabinet that contains a few other items. Because my hair is the last thing I do before leaving the house, typically I'm stuck waiting for my curling iron to cool before I put it away, or put it back into my luggage.
PROS:
Thatz Hot does what it says it does. You slip your scorching hot flat or curling iron into the bag, cinch the drawstring, and you can immediately pack a hot iron in your luggage, gym bag, or store it in a drawer without melting or damaging the other items around it. Pretty handy, thanks to the bag's Teflon fabric lining.
Thatz Hot comes in four sizes: petite, short, tall and a 3-pocket bag, for those who are super-serious about hauling hair equipment! Cenita sent me the short bag in hot pink and it has four little crystals along the bottom edge. When you order, you can opt for crystals, a surprise charm or no embellishments at all. I like the crystals. They're cute and they add a little girlish fun to the product. In addition to the hot pink one I received, Thatz Hot is also available in pink camo, denim and black, so there's something for everyone's taste.
CONS:
The product works just as it claims. As for its "fit and finish", Thatz Hot is a bit more "homemade" looking than it could be in my opinion. For example, the drawstring is perfectly functional, but it would be nice if it were a ribbon or a more attractive material. Also, the stitching around the outside edge of the bag isn't straight, and it's single-stitched, which would indicate that it's not commercially sewn. Besides those things, Thatz Hot has no other cons that I can see.
VALUE:
I think these nifty bags are a decent value for the money and if they last a long time, so much the better. I'll be hauling mine along on every trip from now on, so we'll see how long it hangs in there!
OVERALL SCORE OUT OF FIVE STARS:
WHERE TO BUY IT: You
can find Thatz Hot online. Pay with your credit card via Paypal or you can print and mail a form with your check.

One of my favorite activities is finding alternate uses for products. After a session up on the range, see if the short version will house the hot barrel of your 9mm on the way home. I'm getting the long version for the nights my pool cue is too hot to lay on the leather seat, so I'm just as glad it isn't too girly.
Women come in those same four sizes. Bet'chall missed that on the first reading.
*ducking*

Terry that's a good use of this product too, but you might find it gets powder stains on it and I don't know if the bags are washable or not.

"If you've ever seen me without my hair done,..."
Um, what does it look like if it's undone?
This is one of those times I'm glad I'm a guy.
