Quote of the Week: Determination

Speechbubble_3 Each Wednesday, I share with you a quote that inspires me, in the hope that it will also inspire you. This week's quote comes from George E. Allen, who said,

"People of mediocre ability sometimes achieve outstanding success because they don't know when to quit. Most men succeed because they are determined to."

Travel Time Management Makes for Friendly Skies

Plane_3 I was in New York City recently, doing some media work with Beazer Homes. I flew out of Atlanta on a Tuesday, which is one of the busiest travel days of the week, making security lines ridiculously long and tempers sometimes short. No doubt you've traveled and left "right on time" but then something unexpected happened and from the minute you got to the airport, you were so rushed that you got stressed out and snappish. I tellya, that's a heck of a way to start off a day, let alone a trip. But I didn't have any of that because...

Yum!

Feed_granola_2 On the heels of my October 16th radio show with Jason Osborn of FEED Granola Company, here is a pic of me with two of the yummy samples Jason sent me. These are just a couple of the four flavors I received. (Bittersweet-ness, which is a fund-raising flavor for breast cancer and Cranberry Coconut Crunch)

These babies won't last long now that I have them in my hot little hands!  Woohoo, thanks again Jason, this granola is YUM-O-RIFIC, my friend! Look for the 12-ounce packages of FEED Granola at Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Earth Fare and other independent health food stores near you.

Because being prepared and thinking ahead is such a big part of being organized, stay tuned for the soon-to-be-available TWO-ounce quickie snack size granola package from FEED. (Hey, who doesn't like a quickie?) This small bag of yummy-ness will be the perfect thing for you organized types to carry around in your Butler Bag, your briefcase, or the console of your car. It's a great little secret weapon to keep you from hitting the drive-thru in those desperate hungry moments on the road. Not that I know anything about that...

Big surprise huh? Also quoted, Pam Hix from HGTV as well as a few statistics that might surprise you. Check out this short article today at The Columbian online.

Quote of the Week: See The Good

Speechbubble_3 Each Wednesday, I share with you a quote that inspires me, in the hope that it will also inspire you. This week's quote comes from Raymond Holliwell, author of Working With The Law: 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living. Holliwell said,

"...learn to think constructively of all persons, all things, all events, and all circumstances. Appraise them from the ideal point of view. As you do this you will gradually transform your whole existence for the better. These are the means whereby you may steadily promote your welfare and advancement."

The Check-Out Line: Shelf Shark

Welcome to The Check-Out Line, where I review products that are designed to make your life easier. I give you my opinion and my opinion only. You decide for yourself. You can see past product reviews here. This week, I'm reviewing the Shelf Shark.

This is one of those rare products that are so simple, you wonder "Why didn't I invent this thing???"

Purpose: To keep thin, flimsy publications, CDs, books or file folders standing upright on a shelf.

Suggested retail: $2.99 for a pack of three.

Pros: Simple simple simple! I mean, seriously, this thing could NOT be simpler! You slide it onto the front of a solid shelf and blam, you're done. It works. Shelves should ideally be thick enough to create tension on the clip, of course.

Cons:
They don't work on anything but solid shelving, so for those of you with ventilated wire shelving, you'll have to wait  until they come out with a new version that's wire-worthy. Also, if the front edge of your shelf is in any way rounded, they don't seem to want to stay on very well. The best shelf to use these products on are ones that are perfectly square on the front edge.

Value: Most excellent value for the money!

Where to buy: So far, it appears you can only get the Shelf Shark at your local Office Depot. But heck, if you're going to have only one retailer, that'd be the one, huh?
