MSNBC Writes About A "Clutter-O-Meter"
Can you measure clutter? Maybe so. MSNBC has an article about it that you might find interesting and there's even an interactive tool you can play with on the site. Personally, I think the only measure that really matters is the "gut measure". When you're sick of your space, it's probably too cluttered. But hey, that's just my low-tech opinion. :)

As an experiment, I took your advice and used your "gut measure" just so I'd have a baseline. Then I took a stack of papers out to the recycling bin, and organized a pile of receipts from a recent business trip. When I measured my gut again it had grown, probably because I ate two jelly doughnuts while cleaning up. This is the inverse law of unintended consequences at work, but at least the office looks better, even if there is powdered sugar everywhere.

Terry, let me just say that I like to use the gut measure myself, because if I used the butt measure, it would NOT be pretty. :)

You'll have to sell that line to someone else, Monica. I mean, unless you've been hitting the jelly doughnuts, too. ;)
