Welcome to The Check-Out Line, where I review products (and services) that are designed to make your life easier. I give you my opinion and my opinion only. You decide for yourself. You can see my past product reviews here. This week, I'm reviewing Taugg Wall Art.
Purpose: To decorate and dramatically alter the appearance of your home or office walls in a most fabulous way, quickly and inexpensively. Installation was pretty simple. Here are the steps, along with photos:
1. Choose your spot on the wall where you want to install the Taugg (rhymes with BLOG). We chose to center ours over our bed.
2. The Taugg vinyl design shape comes sandwiched between a white backing liner and a translucent cover paper. Tape the entire sandwich to the wall at the upper two corners with the design facing you the way you want it to appear on the wall.
3. Starting at one corner, slowly peel away the white backing paper from beneath the Taugg. This is what it will look like when the white backing paper is removed:
4. Once the backing is removed, press the Taugg vinyl and the translucent cover paper onto the wall, beginning in one corner and working your way across, smoothing as you go. (see second picture)
5. Burnish (on top of the liner paper) with a credit card doing one piece of vinyl at a time, to securely adhere each piece of vinyl to the wall. The pieces are individual, rather than connected, which is part of Taugg's coolness. Be sure you hit every square inch of the vinyl design.
6. Once you've burnished the entire design, slowly and carefully peel off the translucent cover layer, beginning at one corner. (see third photo)
The finished product looks
like this:
Pros: They have lots of cool designs from Asian designs like the one I got, to geometrics, nature, urban, and kids designs. And as I said earlier, installation is pretty easy. It is a two-person job, however, removing the white backing paper is the only part we needed two people for. Once the backing was removed, Christmas Boy did the rest while I took pictures. He is an great burnisher, so I let him do it! (Far be it from me to stand in the way of expert burnishing...)
Cons: I haven't found any. The design is pretty, there are no holes in my wall, and it will come off whenever I decide to remove it. The only con I can think of is that I'd love to see each design have a name on the website and the colors could be more clearly defined. (I wasn't sure what each color looked like, or which one I was looking at.)
Where to Buy: You can order direct from the Taugg website. Click on the product you want, choose your color, then just look for the button that says ADD TO CART. Other posts in the Check-Out Line:
Suggested Retail: Taugg designs start at $34 and go up from there (the one I chose retails for $40) which I think is a phenomenal value to make such a dramatic change to a room! Plus, you can install it yourself in less than a half hour. Just try to paint a room for that little money and in that short time frame! It can't be done. (ok, maybe a reeeeally small room, but besides that, it can't be done!)
