"I hate to waste it."
"Waste not want not."
"It's perfectly good".
This is what we often hear when we work with clients who have trouble letting go of items they're not using, because they're still usable. It could be clothing, household appliances, electronics, or toys. To a person who accumulates to the point of hindrance, it's difficult to release these items because they're "too good" to be put into the trash. They don't want the items to go to waste.
These kind, well-meaning folks fail to realize that by saving these items, ostensibly so they don't "go to waste", the items ARE going to waste because nobody is using them. Oh the irony. If you find yourself keeping things "just in case" consider that by doing so, you're not only cluttering your own life, but worse, you're denying someone else the use and value of those things as well. Be kind, be generous, and release those things so you can re-activate the life in those items.
