Is your kitchen driving you batty because of clutter and disorganization? My food cabinets were! Until I took charge using one of my favorite organizing products, the OXO Good Grips Pop Container. These clear acrylic beauties have redefined food storage for me at home and I want you to know about 'em too. It all began when my team and I did a relocation for a client this past spring. My client had specific criteria for her storage containers in the pantry, and whatever product we chose was fine as long as they were...
- Attractive
- Easy for children to handle
- Made from BPA-free plastic
- Clear or translucent for easy viewing
Well I'll tell ya, not many products fit that criteria, but the OXO Good Grips Pop Container does. I can't explain to you how much I love these things. Ohhhhh, all right, since you're so nice to me I'll give it a try.
1. They're actually pretty. The plastic is crystal clear and rigid, so they look and behave a lot like glass. The visibility they offer is unparalleled in a plastic container.
2. There are NO CURVES. Because most closets and cabinets are rectangular, round or otherwise curved-sided containers waste valuable space. So from a space management standpoint, the OXO Pop Containers use space to the max, and I love that.
3. They stack well! Stacking isn't ideal for ease of access, but if you must stack, they'll do it just fine.
4. They're airtight. If you've ever eagerly opened a bag of nacho chips only to bite into a spongy stale nasty chip you know how important the concept of AIRTIGHT is. The OXO Pop Containers have a rubber gasket seal that helps extends the shelf life of most any food. Love this.
5. Operation is EASY easy easy. (Did I mention they're easy??) The best part is that you can do it WITH ONE HAND. (Great for moms who always have at least one hand full!) The lids have a big (about 2 inches across), round, spring-loaded "button" in the center. To open the container, you just push down on the button and it pops up and becomes a handle! To close it, just push down on it and the rubber gasket engages, sealing it shut. It's crazy freakin' genius.
Here are pictures of my kitchen cabinets before and after using the OXO Good Grips Pop Containers. (Click the image to enlarge it.) Notice my Velcro system for holding chip clips on the inside of the cabinet door and yes, my kitchen walls are bright orange. There were boxes, bags, and other food containers all mixed and mingled in there and even with the awesome chip clip storage system, it got a bit frustrating. But check out the AFTER photo...

The OXO containers made such a huge difference! I even used them in my other cabinet to organize my sugar, flour and other baking ingredients.
Two things to know about the OXO Good Grips Pop Containers: One is that only the TOPS are dishwasher safe. (Top rack only) The clear bottoms must be hand washed, which is sort of a bummer for me, but it's worth it. I already have other kitchen implements that I don't put in the dishwasher, so I don't mind.
The other thing is that these containers are admittedly an investment in your kitchen. They're not cheap, but that doesn't mean they're not a good value. They don't hold odors from the previous contents, and they're so nice that you wouldn't expect them to be cheap. But they're great containers, they're durable when cared for properly, and they will last a good long time. So like any investment, it's all about quality and value as opposed to straight price. Get yourself just one and try it out and see if you don't love them as much as I do!
