Recently I wrote that the Staples MailMate Shredder was going to be featured on the hit tv show, "The Office" but I wasn't sure when. To my delight, it was last night! In an absolutely hilarious episode, the Stamford office of Dunder Mifflin closed and all the employees were moved to the Scranton, PA office. We witnessed the merging of the two offices and the resulting chaos. Bossman Michael, in his typical loser-ish, insecure way...
floats all over the office trying to create teamwork and harmony between old and new employees, and at one point lets the air out of everyone's tires, blaming the company next door, in an effort to try to rally the office as a unit. Pam and Jim are back in the same office but because neither of them has the dang stones to make a move on the other one, the sexual tension is once again sky high. But then Jim tells Pam that he's "sort of seeing someone", which we presume is the "exotic-looking" Karen Filippelli. ( and no, her dad apparently wasn't a G.I.)...
Meanwhile, Dwight and the new guy Andy are head to head, each convinced he's the other's boss. (I do think "Director" trumps "Manager" every time) And we see Kevin, who was put in charge of shredding documents, gleefully using the Staples MailMate to shred everything from paper to CDs, to his own credit card. Later in the episode he uses the MaiMate to make a salad!
"Where'd you get that salad?"
"Staples."
A blatant commercial within the episode, but funny nonetheless. It's all about the product placement these days and I expect Seth Godin to write about it any minute now...
here.
What a great episode. See the highights video
